is Adoption a good choice for me?
Hi there. Your current circumstances are less-than-ideal and you’re wondering if adoption is for you. It could be.
At Hands of Hope Pregnancy Services, we want to hear your story. We also offer information on your options and available resources, so you can move forward with an informed choice. You get to make the decision you feel at peace with.
You are strong, and you are not alone.
Three Types of Adoption
There are three types of adoptions to choose from: open, closed, and semi-open adoption. Which one you choose will be based on the kind of relationship you desire to pursue with your child and their adoptive parents.
Open adoption is the most common type of adoption. This type gives you the most access to building relationships with your child through frequent visits and other consistent types of communication. A closed adoption would be for someone who wants privacy and distance. A semi-open adoption is one where you can have some contact with the adoptive parents and your child, usually mediated by an adoption agency. This gives both parties privacy, while giving you the opportunity to see your child grow from afar.

The Adoptive Family
There are many in-depth steps that the adoptive family goes through to become eligible for the adoption process. Things like background checks, criminal checks, questionnaires, photos, and home studies are all completed.
Before starting the adoption process, be specific about what type of family you’re looking for. If you are unsure, you can browse through different portfolios of adoptive families to get a better idea of what you want. The decision is yours.
Sometimes women find an adoptive family through an adoption agency, and other times, they find an adoptive family through community referrals or relatives.
What’s My Next Step?
