Sometimes, life is really hard. Safe Haven Baby Boxes are a last resort option for women who feel they can’t take care of their baby, but want to be completely anonymous.

Parents can surrender their non-harmed child with “no shame, no blame, no names”. In Ohio, parents can hand off their child (up until the baby is 30 days old) to a police officer, hospital employee, or emergency medical services worker at work; or they can take their child to a Safe Haven Baby Box.

1-866-992-2291 (or 1-866-99BABY1) is a National Safe Haven crisis hotline available 24/7 to assist women who may want to speak to a licensed counselor about their situation, or to find a safe haven location.

If you are considering this option, it is important to call the hotline first and talk to a counselor about your situation. They can provide guidance as you decide if this is the best choice for you, and how to go about it. They are also a source of support for birthmoms who have lovingly surrendered their child.

Paulding County Hospital now has a Safe Haven Baby Box near their Med/Surg floor visitor entrance. This is accessed through their parking lot directly facing our clinic (north east parking lot). The box is in the wall near a bench.

There are many baby box locations in Ohio and other states. Hang in there. You are loved, and not alone.
